The pulsating hull of an air ambulance, dashing to or from some emergency, is a common sight over any modern city.
Designed to carry two critically injured people to a medical facility as fast as is sensible. It is capable of nearly 700 miles per hour for up to six hours. Though it rarely achieves that speed, except when attending wilderness incidents.
Equipped for a flexible response it carries a variety of equipment. A fully stabilised automed is carried so that patients in a serious condition can begin treatment on the scene. A stabilised diagnosis table is used for triage and doubles as a second bed with an attached emergency support unit (ESU). Additionally two seats are available for walking wounded or friends and relatives of the injured. Finally it has over 20 cubic feet of storage space for holding specialist equipment and medicines.
The Automed and diagnosis table can be removed from the ambulance and transferred to other facilities. This is used for patient transfers between facilities and to avoid stressing injured patients by moving them more than necessary.
A two person airlock is fitted as standard. This allows entry to the medic and a patient on a grav chair or to a single patient on a grav stretcher. On worlds with fully breathable atmospheres a variant with an additional stretcher bed or two chairs is fitted instead of an airlock.
