The pride of the Vilani Core Fleet

The Imperium’s hammer that it uses to smash its enemies, the Core Fleet is deployed wherever there is a perceived threat or a political show of strength is required. However keeping the vast and relatively stable Vilani Imperium together is a mammoth political task. The Core Fleet spends the vast majority of its time being used in political posturing rather than in active military engagements.

The sheer size of the Imperium and the filtering of information as it passed along the communication lines meant that “local” failings in dealing with the threat presented by a single world amongst thousands were glossed over. Deploying the core fleet against a single rebellious world was political suicide for the status seeking Vilani. Local fleets should have been more than adequate for the task. However slow to stir from its complacency but decisive once the scale of the threat became clear the core fleet was despatched. No-enemy had ever withstood the might of the Imperial core fleet.

Designed for mobility to quickly get to trouble spots most of the core fleet has enough fuel for two consecutive jump-2s. This helps reduce the logistical effort required in keeping such a fleet mobile through dozens of jumps to reach its destination. Perhaps just as importantly it reduces disruption caused by the passage of such fleets through friendly systems that see ships of this size perhaps once a century. Finally they travel only slightly slower than the fastest courier meaning that the enemy has less time to prepare, if they are warned at all.

The 30,000 ton Pashana class Dreadnought is the pride of the fleet. Capable of bringing the awesome disruptive force of its heavy spinal mount particle beam to bear or unleashing a mammoth missile barrage. With 3G drive and heavy armor it can quickly take the fight to the enemy.

Accommodations on board are to the Imperial standard which means that command officers have their own stateroom and everyone else shares a stateroom or has a half size stateroom. With 20% spare accommodation for mission flexibility many junior officers often are allocated their own stateroom. The four senior officers have their own luxury stateroom and any visiting dignitaries are allocated the other 4 luxury staterooms or spare single staterooms depending on status.

Weapons consist of a heavy spinal particle beam, 2 heavy missile arrays, 2 repulsor arrays and 7 plasma gun turrets. Other services consist of 14 workshops, 16 sickbays and a 200-ton capacity hangar bay holding an assortment of mission specific sub-craft.
